We are addressing this letter to you concerning the despicable display of antisemitic imagery at the Carnival of Aalst.
We count on your support in this matter and we are determined to gather our efforts, so that we, the Members of the European Parliament, and you, the representatives of the European Commission, can speak up united with one voice.
We Members of the European Parliament part of the Working Group on Antisemitism are greatly concerned about the potential for racism and antisemitism during the upcoming edition of the Aalst Carnival, on the 21st and 23rd of February in Aalst, Belgium. We call on local authorities and organizers to ensure that the festival be a space free of manifestations of hatred.
