The Working Group against Antisemitism holds first meeting of 2026 to set priorities amid concerning rise in antisemitic attacks

March 25, 2026MeetingXavier

The Working Group against Antisemitism (WGAS), an informal cross-party working group of Members of the European Parliament, held its first meeting of 2026 to define priorities for the year ahead, address ongoing challenges, and exchange views and proposals.

During the meeting, WGAS members expressed concern over the rise in antisemitic attacks across the continent, stressing the need to enhance the security of Jewish communities, tackle extremism, and develop innovative approaches to engage wider audiences in the fight against antisemitism, particularly among young people and in educational settings.

Following the meeting, WGAS members issued a statement calling on European Union Member States to strengthen the protection of Jewish communities and to take urgent action against the normalisation of antisemitism in our societies amid increasing radicalisation.

The European Jewish Congress (EJC) and B’nai B’rith International serve as the group’s Advisory Board Members, with the EJC acting as its Secretariat.
